After months and month of pleas on blogger's discussion groups, Blogspot has finally fixed the ugrade template technical glitch. This after I have set up a new blog with a similar, no, identical focus and theme to replace this one. Good thing I haven't deleted this blog, because now I can make use of my previous post and still take advantage of the updated features which "adventures of waray in the city" is now enjoying. The problem that remains is how am I to differentiate the two blogs; make each content for each blog distinctive and not overlap; and how to do it with the increasing limited time I have to blog (I actually have a day job apart from practicing my profession on the side, you know).
Right now reviewing both blogs, I clearly see the need to eliminate one. Only one must survive. Choices. Let me make one later....I have grown to love them both.

hello!
Not even in my wildest dream did it occur that one day Makandog will finally get the recognition he deserve!
I'am thrilled to have stumbled into this blog!, You see folks! Iwas born and raised in Suluan, I grew up emagining about our unsung hero Makandog, I had goosebumps while the reading the poem! because, believe it or not, I have a copy of the exact poem at home in Suluan, courtesy of my little nephew who played the role of Makandog during their school play,
{and accurately portrayed him too! according to the old folks that are still living} This is only the beggining! I have a lot to contribute!!! I now reside in Sunny Florida but remain loyal to my waray ancestors,
Looking forward for more discussion about Makandog
nice hearing from you.
As I write, I have here with me the author of the poem you read on my blog. He would like to ask where you got a copy of the poem. A few years back his brother lent a copy of the poem to someone from Suluan. It was printed in the souvenir program of the fiesta then in Sulu-an. Did you get it from there? Anyway he's happy to know that his poem has gone far and that his fellow townmates still remember Makandog's story. Nice daw to know they still remember their roots. As for me, do keep in touch. Time that everyone join hands in remembering what makes "proud to be waray". I will be taking down note of everything waray that deserves to be posted here. So see you, here in my blog again, soon.
hello
Hello Waray in the City,
If I forgot to mention in my previous comment that this blog is humble but mentally stimulating, let me tell you now, it is!! it's like digging treasures from an old trunk!.
Mr. Garado apparently is very familiar with Suluan, not surprising if you are though, because there is a gluten of Garados in the island, I pretty much know most of them except maybe
the "newly sprung ones" ha ha.
For me, I'am a Calumpiano, the only one is the island, and endangered last name bec. my brother has only one son to carry the torch!!
Back to business! and to answer you question about the origin of the poem in my possesion,
I have 2 of them, and yes you are correct, one came from the fiesta souvenier when I went home in May 2006 Fiesta, although I dont remember it being this long, the other poem came from my nephews
2nd or 3rd grade paperback thin book, simply titled MAKANDOG,
This book is about the giants life,
how good but ill tempered he was,
in fact the BINUNDUKAN[ stumped?}
was the result of that temper when he got very upset when his sanggotan was destroyed,
By the way I don't know Mr Garado if you know that Binundukan is slowly becoming a tourist spot! now, finding it is a different story!
While I was home in 2006, I made a special trip, to the spot, even if i had to wade through tall bamboos, overgrown weeds not to mention the mud { bec. its by the Anoling spring} The idea of encountering a snake, did not intimidate me, bec. it was pounded in our heads when we were younger, that once in a greatwhile Makandog
would visit the spot, disguised as a snake! how awesome is that?!
I think my trip was to reassure my self that indeed that famous FOOTSTEP is still there and when my tourist friends come to suluan, I can take them there, bec. it is there!!
How about the bridge that Makandog started? did you know about that? It's almost at the back of the island, past karawisan, and we will talk about it next time if you want, bec. this is getting too long.
No, your post is not too long as it is indeed so informative. It seems you and my friend, Mr. Garado has a lot in common when it comes to an affinity of your hometown, your roots and everythings associated therein. Perhaps being far away from home has that effect, as aptly and eloquently said in Paulo Coehlo's book, "Eleven Minutes". Absence has indeed a way of making the heart grow fonder and this has been shown by the comments and emails I get on this blog and other blogs I maintain from friends and total strangers who have chosen to uproot themselves from their homeland in search of greener pastures. They always read my blogs (so they say) to remind them of home.
On another matter, it seems that serendipity has made me post the poem of Elmer as my mother in law is actually from the island of Suluan. I bet she knows your family.
Anyhow, I hope to keep you seeing you here in this site and do drop by occassionally for more of waraynon stories.
